Interrupted abnormally → I/O error during the migration; Faulty → Failure in pair deletion, creation, or split; Paused → Forcible migration stopping by an administrator
The course states that “SmartMigration migrates services on a source LUN completely to a target LUN without interrupting host services.” It also explains that source-to-target synchronization uses dual-write and DCL technologies to maintain data consistency while services continue running.
The three states distinguish the cause of migration interruption. Interrupted abnormally corresponds to an I/O-related interruption occurring while migration is actually processing data. This differs from Faulty, which indicates that the SmartMigration relationship itself cannot successfully complete a control-plane operation such as pair creation, deletion, or splitting. Paused is an administrative state: migration is intentionally stopped rather than failing because of an underlying I/O or object-management error.
This distinction is consistent with SmartMigration ' s architecture. Data synchronization is a running data-plane process, while creation, splitting, and deletion are pair-management operations. An administrator-triggered stop does not imply that either of those mechanisms has failed.
The course also describes SmartMigration as Huawei ' s online LUN migration function.
