Which two factors can cause high airtime utilization resulting in slow network speed?

RUCKUS identifies two primary influences on Wi-Fi airtime utilization: external RF interference, including non-Wi-Fi energy, and medium contention. Non-Wi-Fi devices such as microwave ovens, Bluetooth equipment, cameras, or other RF emitters can occupy the channel and reduce the amount of usable airtime available to Wi-Fi transmissions. Medium contention occurs because 802.11 uses a shared half-duplex medium in which stations must compete for transmission opportunities. As more devices contend for access, additional waiting and retransmission overhead can reduce effective throughput.
