Which factor does a SmartMesh-enabled AP use to determine the path to the root AP?

RUCKUS SmartMesh selects the best path according to the potential throughput of the available mesh links, making the fastest path to the root AP the correct answer. Mesh APs continuously advertise their potential throughput, and neighboring mesh nodes use this information when selecting a path toward the wired root. Consequently, SmartMesh does not simply select the route containing the fewest hops or the AP with the lowest identifier. A route with an additional hop may be less desirable because each wireless mesh hop can reduce available throughput, but path selection fundamentally considers the quality and performance of the available path.
