According to the PMBOK Guide, one of the tools and techniques for planning project resources is responsibility assignment matrix (RAM). RAM is a grid that shows the project resources assigned to each work package. It helps to clarify the roles and responsibilities of each team member and ensure that all the work is accounted for. A common type of RAM is the RACI chart, which stands for responsible, accountable, consult, and inform. A RACI chart indicates the level of involvement and authority of each team member for each project activity. Asking the functional manager to create a specific RACI chart for the team member who is unclear about their role and responsibilities is an example of applying this technique to address the situation and improve the team member’s understanding and performance.
