Fast-tracking is one of the tools and techniques for the Develop Schedule process, which is part of the Project Schedule Management knowledge area. The other tools and techniques are schedule network analysis, critical path method, critical chain method, resource optimization, data analysis, leads and lags, schedule compression, and project management information system. The other options are not schedule compression techniques, although they may be used in other project management processes or activities. Analyzing both projects to determine the most effective use of common resources is a way of managing multiple projects and optimizing resource allocation. Using resource optimization to justify requesting more resources for the critical project is a way of balancing the demand and supply of resources and resolving resource conflicts.
