When Netskope performs SSL inspection on traffic that uses certificates issued by an internal Certificate Authority (CA) not trusted by Netskope, the platform generates an SSL error and blocks the connection. To resolve this for internal sites using private CA certificates, three approaches are valid: bypassing SSL inspection for the affected sites using a Do Not Decrypt rule removes the certificate validation issue by passing traffic through without inspection; changing the SSL Error Settings in the Netskope UI from Block to Bypass for the self-signed or untrusted certificate error type allows the traffic to flow even when Netskope cannot validate the certificate chain; and importing the internal root CA certificate into Netskope’s trusted certificate store enables full chain validation for all sites using that CA. Creating a Real-time Protection policy to allow access or instructing users to click through errors are not effective or scalable enterprise solutions.
