What happens when a comment is marked as an answer in a GitHub discussion?

In GitHub Discussions, certain discussion categories support marking a reply as the accepted answer. When a comment is marked as an answer, GitHub highlights that comment and labels it as the accepted answer. This helps other users quickly identify the response that resolved the question without reading the entire thread. It is especially useful in Q & A-style communities where many contributors may respond with suggestions, but one answer provides the correct or most helpful solution. Marking a comment as an answer does not automatically archive the discussion or lock future comments. It is also different from pinning a discussion, which keeps an entire discussion visible at the top of the Discussions page.
