What do you need for account-driven Device Enrollment?

Apple’saccount-driven enrollmentallows users to self-enroll devices into MDM without the need for profiles distributed manually. To use this enrollment method, Apple requires the user to sign in with aManaged Apple Accountcreated in Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. When the user enters their credentials, the device recognizes the account as managed and begins the enrollment process. Apple Learning highlights that this workflow simplifies enrollment for end users while ensuring the device is linked to organizational management. Supervision is not a prerequisite here, and personal Apple IDs are not eligible. Identity providers like Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra ID may provide federated authentication for the Managed Apple Account, but the account itself must exist as a managed entity in ABM or ASM.
