This scenario describes classic Business Email Compromise (BEC) or CEO-fraud phishing: a spoofed or lookalike sender identity, plausible internal detail to build credibility, and manufactured urgency to suppress normal verification steps. The correct countermeasure is out-of-band verification, contacting the purported sender through a separate, independently known communication channel, such as a phone call to a number already on file, rather than replying to or trusting anything in the email itself. This breaks the attacker's control over the verification channel, since a phone call cannot be intercepted or spoofed the way the email thread can. Proceeding with the transfer (A) is exactly the outcome the attacker is engineering and would result in financial loss. Simply ignoring and reporting it as spam (B) fails to close the loop if the request happens to be legitimate, and does not follow the principle of verifying before dismissing.
