Zero Trust is a security architecture that assumesno implicit trust—inside or outside the network perimeter. Every access request must be continuously verified based on identity, device health, context, and policy. Unlike traditional perimeter-based models, Zero Trust eliminates the concept of a “trusted internal network.”

Microsegmentation is a core Zero Trust technique that divides networks and workloads into highly granular security zones. Each zone enforces its own access controls, dramatically reducing lateral movement if an attacker gains access. This model aligns with NIST SP 800-207, which defines Zero Trust as a strategy to minimize attack surfaces and contain breaches.
