When developers submit Mac apps for distribution outside the App Store, Apple ________.

Apple Notarization is a malware-scanning service for Mac software distributed outside the Mac App Store. Developers submit their software to Apple, which scans it for known malicious content. If no known malware is detected and the submission satisfies the notarization process, Apple issues a notarization ticket. Developers can staple that ticket to the application so Gatekeeper can verify the notarization even when the Mac is offline. Therefore, option C is correct. A revocation ticket is different: Apple can issue one when software is later identified as malicious. Apple does not require all Mac applications to be distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store. Developer ID signing, Notarization, Gatekeeper, and XProtect collectively allow trusted applications to be distributed securely outside the App Store.
