API API-936 Question Answer
What temperature is required to form a permanent bond in phosphate-bonded plastic refractory?
100°F to 300°F (38°C and 150°C)
50°F to 100°F (10°C and 38°C)
300°F to 500°F (150°C and 260°C)
500°F to 700°F (260°C and 370°C)
Phosphate-bonded plastic refractories develop their final bonding during high-temperature exposure. As described in TR 980:
“Phosphate-bonded plastics require temperatures between 500°F and 700°F (260°C and 370°C) to form a permanent ceramic bond.”
