What is required to publish a data source to Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud from...

Publishing a new data source from Tableau Desktop requires publishing rights that are available with a Creator site role, together with the necessary project capabilities. Tableau documents Creator as the site role that provides full connection and publishing access from Tableau Desktop, including the ability to create and publish data sources, workbooks, and flows. Server administrator rights are not required for ordinary publishing. A Tableau Public account applies to Tableau Public rather than publishing governed content to Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud. View permission alone is also insufficient because viewing an existing project or workbook does not grant the Save and publish capabilities needed to create a new published data source. Therefore, among the listed choices, a Creator site role is the required condition.
