In a local SPAN configuration, the source is the switch interface whose traffic must be copied, while the destination is the interface connected to the passive monitoring device. Therefore, switch interface Gi0/1 must be configured as the SPAN source, and switch interface Gi0/3, which connects to the Cisco Secure IPS sensor, must be the destination. Both commands must also reference the same SPAN session number. Option D satisfies all these requirements. Options B and C omit the mandatory session number, while Option A incorrectly assigns Gi0/3 as both the source and destination. A SPAN destination cannot simultaneously be a source in the same session. The passive IPS receives the mirrored packets for inspection but does not retransmit or directly block them.
