Components are attached to assets (Option A): Components are devices or objects that are physically attached to another device, typically an asset. Examples include communication relays and components that can be attached to analog meters to connect them to smart grids. Components are always associated with another device and cannot exist independently in terms of installation or location.

Components can be installed at locations (Option C): While components are attached to assets, they can be installed at specific locations. The installation of a component is essentially the installation of the asset to which the component is attached. Therefore, components indirectly have a location where they are installed through their associated assets​​​​.
